Lesson Information & Fees
What To Wear
For safety reasons, riders must wear ASTM approved riding helmets, boots or shoes with at least a ½” heel, and long pants. The first fewlessons, Candy Lane Acres LLC. can provide the helmet. After that, riders are asked to bring their own approved riding helmet (not bike helmets).
Arrival Time and Preparation
Riders are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled riding time. In order to get the full “horse experience”, riders are encouraged to learn how to groom and tack up so they can eventually prepare their horses for riding when they come for lessons.
Riding instructors start and end classes promptly because the daily schedule. If the class gets started late dur to a delay on the instructors part, the instructor will make sure the riders still get the full hour lesson. However, if the rider is late in arriving for their scheduled time, the class will not delay its starting time and there will not be an opportunity to makeup the missed riding time. It is highly recommended that riders allow themselves plenty of time prior to their lesson and after their lesson. This will allow you adequate time to help prepare your horse for your lesson and cleanup your horse after your lesson.
Cancellation Policy
We have always kept our lesson prices as low as possible to make it affordable for all riders to have the opportunity to take a lesson at least once a week. This hasn’t always been easy on our part, but it has helped enable a lot of our riders to continue on this type of schedule. Because of this, we hope that you will adhere to our cancellation policy which we have tried to be fair about.
The policy is as follows:
If you are scheduled for a lesson and cancel even one minute under 24 hours, you are asked to pay for the lesson.
If you cancel under 24 hours and would like to substitute another rider, you are welcome to do so. Please call in advance, if possible, and let us know who is riding and make sure that they arrive early for the scheduled lesson so that the instructor has ample time to make arrangements if the rider needs a different horse than you were assigned.
This policy helps enable us to provide you with top quality instructors and horses along with a great place to ride. We also do not ask that you pay anything in advance, keep our prices low, and only ask that you pay upon arrival for your lesson.
ALL cancellations and schedule changes should be done by calling the stable at 412-741-6822.
Weather
Lessons at Candy Lane Acres LLC. go on Rain or Shine now because we have the indoor riding arena. We will be here even on the snowiest days and it will be very unusual for us to cancel a lesson. However, if the weather is extremely bad we will call you to make further arrangements. Otherwise, we encourage our riders to watch the weather, and if the forecast calls for weather with which you are not comfortable to come out in, please plan far enough in advance and let us know so that we can properly rearrange the schedule, especially if there are others like you who decide not to ride. EXCEPT in sudden unexpected storms, the cancellation policy still applies.
